About The Position

The Department of Engineering Studies at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf is seeking an experienced professional to teach in our applied engineering and technology programs. The successful candidate will support instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in foundational engineering, technical operations, and hands-on laboratory coursework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts, Science and Technology
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of relevant industry experience, including experience at a Engineering Technologist III level or equivalent applied engineering role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with engineering design tools such as SolidWorks; formal training or certification is acceptable
  • Teaching and/or professional experience of manual machining practices
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in applied engineering, technical operations, or related laboratory-based subjects
  • Provide demonstrations, guided practice, and individualized student support
  • Support visually accessible and inclusive instructional practices
  • Advise and mentor students on academic and professional development
  • Participate in departmental meetings, service activities, and professional development
  • Maintain current industry knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement of course materials
