About The Position

The Department of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer and Laboratory Instructor (Fixed-Term) specializing in advanced laboratory instruction to begin in August 2026. The lab instructor will teach laboratory sections in Analytical, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, typically four labs per semester. These lab courses are co-taught with faculty who are the instructor of record for the lecture course, contributing to an integrated curriculum and a highly engaged student learning environment. This visiting lecturer position is a one-year replacement position for a retirement.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. required by the beginning of the appointment
  • Demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogies
  • Desire to teach laboratory courses
  • Experience with instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Co-teaching 4 advanced lab courses each semester
  • Lab preparation and instrument maintenance
  • Updating lab CANVAS sites and overseeing grading with TA support
  • Office hours and providing additional student support outside of lab hours
