About The Position

This position serves as a visiting instructor and faculty member in the School of Education. The instructor will teach a wide range of undergraduate courses for candidates seeking degrees with licensure in Elementary Education (K–6), Middle Level Education (4–8), Secondary Education (7–12), and/or K–12 Education. Responsibilities include supporting candidates’ progress through coursework and integrating research-based instructional practices and relevant technology throughout teaching. The instructor will collaborate with key stakeholders, including local school districts, educational cooperatives, and the Arkansas Department of Education, to support program quality, alignment with licensure expectations, and continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, the individual will participate in university, college, and departmental service and engage in ongoing professional development as needed for the field. The individual would be required to travel to and from area schools and perform other duties as required or assigned. This position reports to the Executive Director of the School of Education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in core area related to the assignment
  • Possess a valid teaching license
  • At least three years of successful full-time classroom teaching experience in K-8 public schools in the United States
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of content, instructional best practices, curriculum design, and assessment
  • Experience integrating technology into K-12 learning environments
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, competency-based learning, and close partnerships with local school districts
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaborative ability
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Mastery of degree and discipline requirements as set forth by an accredited institution
  • Expertise in subject areas related to professional practice and assigned courses
  • Current credentials maintained within the discipline
  • Strong knowledge of instructional technology and proficiency with LMS and technology tools
  • Comprehensive understanding of public school practices and current reform initiatives
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and lead diverse partners to consensus
  • Ability to provide professional development to students and educational stakeholders
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous online, and/or asynchronous online
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching middle level (grades 4-8) in a K-12 public school
  • Teaching in higher education in an education department
  • Prior involvement in teacher preparation, mentoring, and supervising teacher candidates
  • Experience in using High-Quality Instructional Materials

Responsibilities

  • Classroom instruction
