About The Position

The Department of Theology at Benedictine College is seeking a one-year Visiting Instructor of Theology for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role requires a dynamic teacher with general competence in Catholic theology, with a preference for candidates in moral theology. The successful candidate must be willing to seek the mandatum from the Archbishop and take an Oath of Fidelity, in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Benedictine College is a mission-centered academic community with approximately 2100 full-time undergraduate students, dedicated to providing a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, and residential education. The college emphasizes a core of studies in the arts and sciences, alongside professional courses, and fosters scholarship and independent research. Faculty are expected to engage with and support the college's mission, particularly its Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts identity and the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Requirements

  • ABD by the start date or a Master’s degree with considerable teaching experience.
  • Competence as a generalist in Catholic theology.
  • Willingness to seek the mandatum from the Archbishop.
  • Willingness to make an Oath of Fidelity in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
