About The Position

The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP) in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a one-semester, full-time position with benefits as Visiting Assistant Professor in Public Health to begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have potential for excellence in teaching in-person, a critical area for our teaching-centered, primarily undergraduate institution. Applicants should be eager to create engaging, inclusive learning environments for our diverse student body that emphasize shared learning objectives across a range of subject areas within the health sciences. The successful candidate will teach three, 4 credit hour, sections of undergraduate face-to-face Epidemiology classes primarily to Allied Health and Public Health students. The Public Health program is in the process of accreditation with the Council on Education for Public Health; candidates will be expected to teach courses in alignment with accreditation requirements and perform administrative duties to support this initiative, as well as the department needs.

Requirements

  • Earned PhD, DrPH, or ScD by August 2026 are preferred, MSPH or MPH candidates are eligible to apply with appropriate work experience.
  • Strong epidemiology literacy.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to guide students on the use of statistical calculations using Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Public health certifications/licenses are encouraged (CPH).
  • Prior teaching and research experience are desirable.

Responsibilities
