Bucknell University’s Department of Music invites applications for a year-long Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. We seek candidates who specialize in African, African-American, and/or African-diasporic musical culture(s), and/or music and social justice. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester in African, African-American, and/or African-diasporic music; critical intersections of music with race and social justice; jazz, rock, and/or hip-hop; cross-cultural perspectives in music; and/or other related areas. By the start date of the position, candidates are expected to have a doctorate or be ABD in Ethnomusicology, Africana/African-American/Black Studies, Jazz Studies, Musicology, or another related field.
