About The Position

St. Norbert College is seeking outstanding candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in History, beginning in August 2027. This is a one-year contract role with the possibility of renewal. The position is on-site and requires full-time on-campus attendance. The college is a nationally ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts institution with a unique educational experience rooted in Norbertine traditions.

Requirements

ABD or Ph.D. in History.
Enthusiasm for teaching introductory courses in U.S. History.
Ability to teach or develop upper-level courses in multiple areas of U.S. history is desirable.
Submit a letter of application, teaching philosophy statement, unofficial transcripts, and curriculum vitae.
Submit a separate 1-page statement describing envisioned contributions to and support of the mission and values of St. Norbert College.
Address how candidates could participate in the educational vision laid out in the College’s Catholic, Liberal Arts, and Norbertine identity statements, Ex Corde Ecclesiae.

Responsibilities

Teach introductory courses in U.S. History.
Teach or develop upper-level courses in multiple areas of U.S. history.
Teach 3 to 4 courses per semester, including introductory courses and at least one upper-level course each semester.
Participate in the College's liberal arts Core Curriculum.
Contribute to and support the mission and values of St. Norbert College through teaching, scholarship, and service.
Participate in the educational vision outlined in the College’s Catholic, Liberal Arts, and Norbertine identity statements, Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
