The Vision Engineer leads vision system performance to achieve business targets for inspection capability, system availability, quality performance, defect detection effectiveness, IDC reduction, and manufacturing OEE. The role manages daily vision operations by monitoring system capability, validating inspection performance, supporting PPAP activities, conducting MSA studies, controlling recipes and standards, and ensuring vision processes remain stable, capable, and compliant with customer requirements. The engineer develops, implements, and optimizes machine vision solutions—including cameras, optics, lighting, sensors, image-processing software, and automated inspection systems—to support manufacturing and quality objectives. The role leads vision-related work for new product launches and project development, from concept creation and equipment specification through supplier coordination, acceptance, validation, commissioning, and production launch support. The position also creates and maintains technical documentation and manufacturing quality systems, including work instructions, control plans, PFMEA, validation protocols, troubleshooting guides, best practices, and global vision standards. It drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity using vision technology, automation, data analysis, Lean Manufacturing, and Bosch Production System methodologies. The engineer leads investigations into vision-related failures, root cause analysis, audits, 8D activities, and corrective and preventive actions, while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, product engineering, and suppliers.
