The Computer Vision Engineer will lead the development of advanced navigation and guidance solutions for robotic-assisted surgeries. The role works with clinical experts, system, software and hardware engineers, and regulatory specialists to create accurate, real-time navigation and surgical guidance systems that integrate into the surgical environment. The engineer translates surgeon feedback into technological improvements and user-interface enhancements, develops real-time vision algorithms for surgical instruments and anatomical structures, and adapts pre-operative imaging to intra-operative imaging. The role also involves developing machine-vision sensors and extended-reality display systems for tracking instrument positions; evaluating and integrating depth sensors or multimodal systems to capture surgical-site geometry and anatomical structures; and ensuring sensor calibration and synchronization when needed. The engineer develops and maintains modular, scalable, reliable code in a real-time environment, defines and executes tracking-system tests using synthetic, phantom, and cadaver data, and documents results for risk management, regulatory filings, and product milestones. The position contributes throughout the product life cycle, from research and initial requirements drafting through sustaining efforts.
