About The Position

The Virtual Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language services in the areas of student assessment, augmentative alternative communication devices, direct therapy, training and consultation to staff and families to support students to function to their highest possible level within the educational system. The Virtual Speech Language Pathologist participates as a member of an education team in the assessment and program evaluation for students. The Virtual SLP serves as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children with disabilities and their families. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and is a full-time, 185-day contract that is 100% virtual. The role may work remotely from Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, Utah, and Maryland. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington ESA speech language pathologist certificate.
  • Hold a Speech Language Pathologist license in home state.
  • Completed all requirements for a master's degree with a major in speech pathology (except special project or thesis).
  • Experience working with children with articulation and language disabilities.
  • Experience in the identification, assessment, programming and evaluation of children with language disabilities.
  • Must have remote internet service with bandwidth to support virtual platforms such as Zoom or Google Classroom.
  • Maintain a caseload of at least 60 students with SLP direct services.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI.

  • Master's degree in speech or speech pathology.
  • Experience in P-12 education.
  • Experience working with Washington state and federal laws relating to children with disabilities.
  • One year of experience providing virtual Speech Language Pathology services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech and language services in the areas of student assessment, augmentative alternative communication devices, direct therapy, training and consultation to staff and families.
  • Participates as a member of an education team in the assessment and program evaluation for students.
  • Serves as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children with disabilities and their families.
  • Informs principals, teachers and other school personnel of speech, language and/or hearing services.
  • Organizes and conducts an identification program for communication disorders and provides virtual services and evaluations.
  • Selects and employs virtual diagnostic procedures and develops guidelines for a comprehensive remediation program.
  • Follows ESA criteria for caseload selection and dismissal.
  • Selects and implements therapy strategies for modifying communicative behavior of each student with a speech, language and/or hearing disorder.
  • Maintains an ESA-approved system to record all identification and evaluative data and continuous student performance information; including Medicaid reporting.
  • Identifies and defines factors which determine the effectiveness of therapy.
  • Redefines goals and modifies therapy strategies consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or the individual family service plan (IFSP).
  • Consults with parents, educators and other professionals regarding needs of children/students to assure appropriate learning experiences.
  • Completes all required reports and records for compliance within statutory guidelines.
  • Provides technical assistance to communication technicians and assistants.
  • Attends meetings and collaborates virtually with families, school-based data teams and IEP/evaluation teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Full salary range: $63,269.00 - $98,665.00
  • Salary placement based on education and certificated experience.
