About The Position

This position involves managing lab space and scheduling, along with Virtual Reality hardware (MetaQuest 2 and 3) and software. Responsibilities include keeping headsets charged and ready, running the management system, curating resources for classroom use, and maintaining the physical space. The role also entails delivering VR experiences to classes and individuals, assisting VR users with headsets and answering their questions, and helping faculty understand how to integrate VR into their teaching. Additionally, the manager will contact department heads and chairs to generate business for the lab by describing services and capabilities, write user documentation for software and lab technology, and participate in ongoing Virtual Reality User Experience Research.

Requirements

Demonstrated organizational ability
Ability to cope with problematic equipment and multiple simultaneous users under pressure without getting easily frustrated
Good writing and speaking skills
Desire to help people experience VR and expand the use of emerging visualization technologies in teaching and learning
St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
Students must be actively enrolled at least part-time in courses for credit.
