About The Position

The AoPS Academy Virtual Campus is an after-school and weekend enrichment program for students. Year-Round courses are typically offered late afternoons to evenings, Monday through Friday, with classes starting as early as 4pm ET and as late as 10pm ET. Classes are also available all day on Sundays from 10am ET to 9pm ET. Summer camps run Monday through Friday between June and August for 1, 2, or 4 weeks, with daily sessions of 1.5 or 3 hours. This role is ideal for a passionate, engaging, and enthusiastic teacher who excels at motivating high-achieving students, possesses strong math content knowledge, and is comfortable with student-led instruction and fostering critical thinking in a live virtual classroom environment. The position involves teaching elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Requirements

• Must have a solid academic background in mathematics.
• A bachelor's degree in a STEM field is required.
• Must have some experience using Zoom or similar video conferencing software and be comfortable managing a classroom in a virtual setting.
• Must have some experience teaching or tutoring students at the K-12 level.
• All functions of this role must be completed in the U.S.
• Must be located in and authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• A master's degree or higher in a STEM field is preferred.
• Some experience working with advanced students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach enthusiastic elementary, middle, and high school students in our online classrooms.
• Use our curriculum to teach participation-oriented classes that focus on instruction and developing skills, not on rote memorization.
• Work in small classes (average size 12) with top performing students who are passionate about learning and are motivated to succeed.
