The Vineyard Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and ongoing optimization of vineyard and agricultural machinery across multiple Okanagan (north and south) and Similkameen sites. This role is responsible for ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, compliant, and operates efficiently to support viticulture operations throughout the growing season and beyond, while collaborating effectively with the management team, vineyard employees, suppliers, teammates and industry peer. The ideal candidate is a team player with the ability to build positive, constructive relationships at all levels of the company. This is a unique year round full time opportunity to support next-generation vineyard projects while working closely with an expert, forward-thinking team across premium local estate and properties.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience with farm equipment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to work with basic computer programs
  • Ability to work independently across multiple site locations.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Commitment to safety and maintaining equipment to high operational standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with vineyard or agricultural operations an asset
  • Welding skills an asset
  • Knowledge of hydraulics an asset
  • Ability to operate tractors and vineyard equipment an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on vineyard and agricultural equipment, including tractors, ATVs, sprayers, harvesters, mowers, seeders, and other implements.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and repair small engines and handheld equipment (e.g., trimmers, chainsaws, blowers).
  • Conduct repairs both in the shop and infield as required. Bi-weekly and ad-hoc visits to the North Okanagan (Lake Country) is required.
  • Operate equipment to verify proper functioning after repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
  • Track maintenance schedules and complete accurate service logs for each piece of equipment.
  • Follow company safety protocols, WorkSafeBC standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintains spare parts inventory and recommends replenishments.
  • Coordinate with Vineyard Managers and operators to prioritize repairs, maintenance and calibration needs according to operations.
  • Support equipment setup and calibration at the start of each season (e.g., pruning equipment, sprayers) and winterization at the end of season.
  • Implement basic maintenance and safety training sessions for equipment operators
  • Troubleshoot emergency breakdowns during peak operational periods (e.g., spraying and harvest).
  • Provide input in the preparation of the annual capital expenditure and operating expense budgets regarding maintenance, repairs and development of the vineyard equipment fleet.
