About The Position

Bupa is seeking a Village Assistant for Bupa Ashford Village in Prebbleton, Christchurch. The modern, purpose-built village offers Rest Home, Hospital, Dementia Care, and Care Suites, with rural views. The Village Assistant helps create a welcoming community where residents feel at home, supports new residents as they settle in, and coordinates activities and resident engagement.

Working alongside a supportive team, the role supports the Village Coordinator with office administration, resident welfare, orientation programmes, and the day-to-day operation of the village. It also involves organising resident activities and van trips, arranging transport, and helping residents participate in entertainment and develop skills and hobbies.

This is a permanent full-time position averaging 32 hours per week, rostered Sunday through Wednesday. The successful applicant must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and hold a current driver’s licence with at least five years of driving experience in New Zealand, as the role requires driving a company van.

Requirements

• A current driver’s licence and at least five years of driving experience in New Zealand; the role requires driving a company van.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
• Good computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• A high level of customer service and demonstrated customer focus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in an administration or customer service role is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Village Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the office and administration.
• Support the Village Coordinator in maintaining resident welfare and wellbeing.
• Assist with orientation programmes for new residents and the day-to-day operations of the village.
• Organise and implement activities and van trips with residents, ensuring transport arrangements are in place.
• Ensure residents have opportunities to participate in entertainment offerings and develop new skills and hobbies.
