About The Position

Global Durham is currently seeking a full-time Videographer to join the news team. The successful candidate will be required to generate engaging content for broadcast and online, primarily on weekdays and can include evenings and weekends. This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.

Requirements

• Previous work experience in broadcast and online journalism.
• Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
• Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
• Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
• The ability to effectively solve problems and troubleshooting while dealing with the unexpected.
• Ability to handle the demands and pressure of tight deadlines and breaking news.
• Proven ability as a team player with a positive attitude.
• Great communication and organizational skills.
• Valid class “G” driver’s license with clean driving abstract.

Responsibilities

• Generating, and pitching original story ideas.
• Chasing, writing, shooting, producing, and editing original news stories for Global Durham broadcast and globalnews.ca while meeting multiple daily deadlines.
• Posting updates online as a story is being developed.
• Creatively using production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytelling.
• Establishing and maintaining a network of news contacts throughout the Durham region.
• Other duties as assigned.
