About The Position

In October 2026 the Museum will open the Public Science Common, a state-of-the-art convening and performance space for everything from daily science presentations, immersive theatre & dance productions, to high-profile spectacle events. We are seeking a Video Supervisor to oversee and execute all video needs, and make meaningful contributions to the commissioning and opening of a new, global stage for science education. We are looking for a proactive collaborator to support all Museum stakeholders in using media to create compelling, memorable experiences for all audiences.

Requirements

  • Experienced with Panasonic & Christie video projectors, LED walls, and media servers.
  • Experienced with building and running QLab workspaces.
  • Experienced with Adobe suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop) and media creation software.
  • Experienced with capturing video and live camera switching, for livestream and recorded events.
  • Able to combine content and live cameras on multiple surfaces for a complete video design.
  • Comfortable working at heights of ~25’ on a tension wire grid, as well as from ladders and personnel lifts.
  • Comfortable working in backstage show conditions including but not limited to: fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally experienced with other video software such as Disguise, Isadora, Resolume, TouchDesigner, or have a willingness to learn.
  • Additional experience with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, or 3D modeling software like Maya a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a video system consisting of motorized LED walls, as well as floor and wall projectors for immersive, two-plane video environments.
  • Serve as a thought-leader in video and projection design and collaborate with internal Museum departments and external partners in creating experiences for the Public Science Common, and venues across the Museum.
  • Act as the Museum’s subject matter expert for video and projection, providing consultation and standards throughout planning, design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with Technical Director and other Supervisors to create systems, procedures, and documentation to support an always-on venue in a Museum that is open 7 days a week, 360 days a year.
  • All staff are expected to develop familiarity with all venue systems, and be willing to assist across departments and cover when needed.
  • This position will work a flexible schedule and run any complex or premiere events (with some nights and weekends required) and train staff members for daily, recurring operations.
