About The Position

Harris County Universal Services is transforming the way the County does business and seeking a Video Services Systems Engineer to join our team. Universal Services is the enterprise IT solutions center for the departments and offices of Harris County, providing Information Technology, Public Safety and Justice Technologies, 311 Constituent Engagement Services, Fleet Services, and Records and Information Governance Services. Harris County is the third largest and diverse county in the nation, with a population of more than 4.7 million. Harris County Commissioners Court, the County’s governing body, directs a budget of more than $4 billion providing essential services including flood control, infrastructure, healthcare, housing, and justice administration. The Systems Engineer – Video Services is responsible for supporting and maintaining the County’s video conferencing and streaming infrastructure, with a focus on A/V over IP technologies. This role ensures continuous availability of video services for Commissioners’ Court, Multi-Purpose and Conference Rooms. The engineer plays a critical role in system configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and providing 24/7 support for video endpoints, recording systems, and livestream environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Crestron, Extron, QSC, AMX hardware and video conferencing systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with video endpoint devices.
  • Knowledge of streaming protocols: RTMP, RTSP & Multicast Routing
  • Barco ClickShare Presentation and Video Conferencing devices.
  • AV over IP Systems and Platforms: Dante, QSC Creston, Extron, Visionary AV, Haivision & BrightSign
  • IP Routing & Subnetting
  • Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted. Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred
  • additional relevant certifications are a plus
  • CCNA Collaboration or relevant Cisco certifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the Commissioners Court live streaming via service provider.
  • Install and update software & firmware for AV related devices.
  • Design and manage AV projects between vendor and customer.
  • Update configuration of Crestron, Extron, QSC and AMX control systems
  • Update and maintain AV assets in monitoring tools.
  • Provide backup support for AV Architect and their duties.
  • Provide technical support AV and video conferencing systems.
