About The Position

The Video Producer position is part of the University Communication and Marketing team. The position is responsible for every aspect of video production from pre-production through to post-production, including concepting, planning, producing, shooting, interviewing, editing, mixing, color correcting, and incorporating music, graphics, and captions. The Video Producer is expected to understand and apply the best practices for video storytelling and audience engagement. The position must manage multiple assignments, moving from cutting brief clips, making quick edits, and working on longer-term projects as required. Responsibilities include developing content ideas; coordinating, directing, and filming a variety of footage including event coverage, interviews, b-roll, and promotional content; as well as managing all aspects of post-production including editing and mixing for clarity, emotional impact, and audience retention. The position is expected to output final cuts that are optimized for different platforms, ensuring correct aspect ratios, length, and attention‑grabbing edits; create multiple edits and formats from one core piece of footage; and leverage AI-assisted creative tools. In addition, the Video Producer will have strong time management and project organization skills to ensure videos are properly tagged, titled, and stored. The Video Producer must have exceptional videography and Adobe Premiere editing skills along with strong script writing and storyboarding capabilities. The person will remain poised and professional even with quick turnarounds and changing priorities and consistently demonstrate excellent communication skills and time management abilities. The Video Producer will collaborate with the internal UCM team to shape multimedia messaging that aligns with brand goals and maintains consistency. They will operate as part of the AU community and work with campus colleagues to create video content that supports their project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Digital portfolio that demonstrates experience writing, shooting, producing, and editing engaging video content in a variety of styles for diverse audiences.
  • Video editing software experience and expertise – Adobe Premiere, CapCut (or similar).
  • Excellent research, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills.
  • The capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • The ability to be flexible and work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional editorial practices and processes.
  • An understanding of analytics and content performance metrics.

Nice To Haves

  • Videography experience with Canon DSLR and RED digital camera, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produce short and long form video, web and social media video assets, and other multimedia content.
  • Plan, produce, edit, and deliver video and digital content that supports AU’s strategic priorities, including but not limited to enrollment, retention, university reputation, academic profile, research, scholarship, and community engagement through strong storytelling and visual composition.
  • Work together with UCM colleagues to develop stories and video content that supports university priorities, enhances university reputation, contributes to core functions such as enrollment and retention, and delivers key messages.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to leverage video asset sharing across the university.
  • Coordinate regular meetings and interactions with videographers and other campus digital creators.
  • Create a shared video editorial calendar.
