About The Position

WLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking an experienced Video Journalist/Photographer to gather and edit visual content for compelling storytelling across broadcast, social, digital, and other WLKY platforms. The role may involve working independently or collaborating with reporters and other teams to produce newscast and online content. The position requires a strong understanding of breaking news, deadlines, newsroom collaboration, and communication, along with excellent editing, time-management, organizational, and equipment-maintenance skills. A strong visual eye and high journalistic standards are essential. The position reports to the News Director and requires in-person attendance.

Requirements

• Professional news video photographer experience is preferred.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Experience with ENG trucks and live transmission gear.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to operate digital editing tools.
• Computer and software experience.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive content production.
• In-person attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

• Drone certification, or willingness to become certified in drone operation.
• Knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, packages, and vertical videos for broadcast, social, and digital platforms.
• Work with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
• Use a full-size Sony ENG camera.
• Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed live shots and video to the station.
• Work with reporters and the desk to gather the best content and facts.
• Coordinate with the digital team to transfer field information, images, and video quickly.
• Use catalog systems to record and locate video.
• Maintain attention to detail in file management and technical workflow.
• Be flexible with the schedule, remain on call, and respond quickly to breaking news.
• Make quick decisions and work under pressure.
• Organize and care for gear, equipment, and station vehicles.
