About The Position

WLKY is seeking a multi-platform news Reporter who can generate story ideas, write to video, produce vertical videos and deliver compelling live shots. The successful candidate is proactive, competitive, and able to take ownership of major stories and breaking news. The role requires strong story generation and writing, excellent time management, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. The Reporter must work quickly under tight deadlines, follow direction and feedback, develop sources, and collaborate with photographers to tell stories effectively. A demo reel should demonstrate live reporting and vertical-video storytelling ability.

Requirements

Professional reporting experience.
Experience with enterprise reporting and the ability to uncover details.
A demo reel indicative of everyday work, including reels.
Ability to write clear, correct, compelling copy that supports gathered images.
Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.

Responsibilities

Plan, gather, and assemble stories for day-of news or special project assignments.
Work with or without a photographer to gather and edit compelling video and sound.
Produce compelling vertical videos for social platforms.
Contribute pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories with depth, distinctive enterprise angles, and exclusive content.
Develop a network of sources that provide tips and early access to information and help the Reporter break significant stories.
Work on multiple stories and projects at once and meet deadlines under pressure.
