About The Position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Video Engineer to join its Video Engineering group at the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) in Huntsville, Alabama. The team designs, implements, integrates, troubleshoots, and supports enterprise-class video distribution systems for mission-critical environments, including systems supporting NASA’s International Space Station operations and the Artemis program. The role supports broadcast-style infrastructure, control systems, and IP-based video workflows, including multicast video distribution. The Video Engineer designs and maintains video systems and documentation, configures routing and control technologies, resolves issues across video and network layers, and supports upgrades and operational activities. After-hours or on-call support may be required. The position may involve work in equipment rooms, control rooms, operations centers, and network infrastructure spaces, as well as occasional lifting and installation support. Applicants must be eligible and able to successfully obtain a NASA Position of Trust. An associate or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training, certification, and hands-on experience may be considered.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in video engineering, broadcast engineering, audiovisual engineering, networked video systems, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting video distribution systems in operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Evertz video routing systems or comparable enterprise video router platforms.
  • Experience with video control systems, including Haivision, RGB, Activu, or similar control and visualization platforms.
  • Strong understanding of video signal flow, video routing, source/destination management, display systems, encoders, decoders, and endpoint devices.
  • Working knowledge of video-distribution network protocols and technologies, including multicast concepts, IGMP, PIM, UDP, RTP, RTSP, TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, and basic routing and switching principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across video, control, endpoint, and network layers.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, configuration records, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be eligible and able to successfully obtain a NASA Position of Trust.
  • May require support during maintenance windows, system outages, operational events, or after-hours troubleshooting.
  • May require occasional lifting, rack-mounted equipment installation support, cable tracing, and coordination with installation teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting control room, operations center, command center, broadcast, or mission-support video environments.
  • Familiarity with streaming media systems, IPTV, KVM-over-IP, video wall systems, and enterprise visualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, configuration management, and change-control practices in enterprise or government environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CTS, Network+, CCNA, or vendor-specific training in video routing, streaming, visualization, or networked AV technologies.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors for support, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent networking certification.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), preferred for advanced multicast, routing, and switching support.
  • Vendor-specific training or certification for Evertz video routing systems.
  • Haivision training or certification related to video streaming, control, encoding, decoding, or IP video distribution.
  • RGB Spectrum training or certification related to enterprise visualization, video wall, or control systems.
  • Active training or certification related to visualization, command center, or control room video systems.
  • SMPTE, broadcast engineering, or IP media transport training, including multicast video workflows.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, information technology, broadcast engineering, audiovisual technology, telecommunications, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education, training, certification, and hands-on experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, integrate, and support video distribution systems for operational display, routing, monitoring, and control.
  • Support Evertz video router environments, including routing configuration, signal-path troubleshooting, and operational coordination.
  • Configure and maintain video control technologies, including Haivision, RGB, and Activu controls.
  • Develop and maintain video system designs, signal-flow diagrams, configuration documentation, and operational support procedures.
  • Troubleshoot video quality, signal routing, endpoint display, control-system, encoder, decoder, and transport issues.
  • Support IP-based video distribution workflows, including multicast routing concepts, network segmentation, transport protocols, and coordination with network engineering teams.
  • Participate in system upgrades, technology refreshes, testing, acceptance activities, and change-management processes.
  • Provide technical support for mission-critical video systems, including after-hours or on-call support when required.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, networking, and vendor teams to ensure reliable system performance.
  • Evaluate emerging video distribution technologies and recommend improvements to reliability, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with vendors for support, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning, where applicable.
