About The Position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Video Engineer to join its Video Engineering group at the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) in Huntsville, Alabama. The team designs, implements, integrates, troubleshoots, and supports enterprise-class video distribution systems. The role supports mission-critical video environments used in NASA programs, including International Space Station operations and the Artemis program. Systems rely on signal routing, control interfaces, network transport, and multicast video distribution. The Video Engineer will design, configure, integrate, and maintain video distribution and control systems; troubleshoot issues across video, control, endpoint, and network layers; and support system upgrades, testing, acceptance, and operational change processes. The position involves collaboration with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, networking, and vendor teams. Support during maintenance windows, system outages, operational events, and after hours may be required. Work may take place in equipment rooms, control rooms, operations centers, and network infrastructure spaces. Occasional lifting, rack-mounted equipment installation support, and cable tracing may be required. Candidates must be eligible and able to successfully obtain a NASA Position of Trust. An associate or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training, certification, and hands-on experience may be considered.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in video engineering, broadcast engineering, audiovisual engineering, networked video systems, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting video distribution systems in operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Evertz video routing systems or comparable enterprise video router platforms.
  • Experience with video control systems, including Haivision, RGB, Activu, or similar control and visualization platforms.
  • Strong understanding of video signal flow, video routing, source/destination management, display systems, encoders, decoders, and endpoint devices.
  • Working knowledge of video-distribution networking protocols and concepts, including multicast, IGMP, PIM, UDP, RTP, RTSP, TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, and basic routing and switching principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across video, control, endpoint, and network layers.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, configuration records, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be eligible and able to successfully obtain a NASA Position of Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting control room, operations center, command center, broadcast, or mission-support video environments.
  • Familiarity with streaming media systems, IPTV, KVM-over-IP, video wall systems, and enterprise visualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, configuration management, and change-control practices in enterprise or government environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CTS, Network+, CCNA, or vendor-specific training in video routing, streaming, visualization, or networked AV technologies.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, information technology, broadcast engineering, audiovisual technology, telecommunications, or a related field; equivalent education, training, certification, and hands-on experience may be considered.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), CTS-I, or CTS-D.
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent networking certification.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), preferred for advanced multicast, routing, and switching support.
  • Vendor-specific training or certification for Evertz video routing systems.
  • Haivision training or certification related to video streaming, control, encoding, decoding, or IP video distribution.
  • RGB Spectrum training or certification related to enterprise visualization, video wall, or control systems.
  • Active training or certification related to visualization, command center, or control room video systems.
  • SMPTE, broadcast engineering, or IP media transport training, including multicast video workflows.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors for support, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, integrate, and support video distribution systems for operational video display, routing, monitoring, and control.
  • Support Evertz video router environments, including routing configuration, signal-path troubleshooting, and operational coordination.
  • Configure and maintain control technologies, including Haivision, RGB, and Activu controls.
  • Develop and maintain video system designs, signal-flow diagrams, configuration documentation, and operational support procedures.
  • Troubleshoot video quality, signal routing, endpoint display, control-system, encoder, decoder, and transport issues.
  • Support IP-based video distribution workflows, including multicast routing concepts, network segmentation, transport protocols, and coordination with network engineering teams.
  • Participate in system upgrades, technology refreshes, testing, acceptance activities, and change-management processes.
  • Provide technical support for mission-critical video systems, including after-hours or on-call support when required.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, networking, and vendor teams to ensure reliable system performance.
  • Evaluate emerging video distribution technologies and recommend improvements to reliability, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with vendors for support, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.
