About The Position

The Video Communications Engineer will be responsible for supporting all Advocate Health locations, navigating Service Now for ticket completion within SLA intervals, and engaging senior engineers as needed. This role involves understanding procedural documentation, recommending process improvements, and facilitating end-user training. The engineer will collaborate with the team on technology solution planning and execution, interact with business partners to define scope and gather requirements, and work with vendors and other technical teams on architectural design and Bill of Materials creation for budget estimates. Key responsibilities include leading and supervising the implementation of new technologies and equipment for video conferencing, Telehealth, and Digital Media services, configuring Cisco and Polycom UC infrastructures, operating Crestron AV control systems, Cisco and Polycom codecs, MCUs, Gatekeepers, B2B Servers, and associated AV equipment. The role also involves designing AV conference room technologies, managing databases and directories for video conference services, potentially assisting with hardware and software installations, performing system upgrades and preventative maintenance, and maintaining knowledge of current and emerging technologies to inform stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related (or equivalent knowledge).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Video Communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Strong research, analysis, design skills.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure components and programming requirements for those components.
  • Able to create basic architectural design documentation with some supervision.
  • Able to participate and interact with various teams during solution selection, design session.
  • Basic Infrastructure knowledge in key solutions like DNS, DHCP, Network Layer, IP Scheme, VOIP, Server, Storage and virtual technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to travel to and support all Advocate Health locations.
  • Navigate Service Now and complete tickets involving work across multiple applications within SLA intervals.
  • Engage Senior level engineer as needed.
  • Ability to understand procedural documentation and offer insightful process improvement recommendations.
  • Facilitate and deliver end-user training to enhance user adoption and proficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the training process, improving the overall user experience.
  • Collaborates with the team in planning and preparing for the execution of technology solutions with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Able to interact with our business partners and customers to define scope, gather requirements and outcomes as part of a project or initiative with little supervision and guidance.
  • Involved as part of a team that includes our vendors and other technical teams in creating an architectural design that can produce a Bill of Materials to provide a budget estimate for our customers.
  • Leads and supervises the implementation of new technologies and equipment related to video conferencing, Telehealth and Digital Media services.
  • Configuring dial plans, call policies and service maintenance within Cisco and Polycom UC infrastructures.
  • Operation of Crestron AV control systems, Cisco and Polycom codec’s, MCU’s, Gatekeepers, B2B Servers and associated AV equipment.
  • Participates in designing AV conference room technologies as well as facilitates proper equipment placement to meet the needs of the business.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of databases and directories associated with video conference services for existing and new users.
  • May install or assist vendors with the installation and maintenance of software and hardware systems related to UC technologies.
  • Perform various system upgrades and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintains a robust knowledge of current, future, and emerging technologies and introduces key stakeholders to the technological capabilities and their application to further the strategic direction of the organization.
