About The Position

The Victim Services Client Support Coordinator (Client Services Coordinator) provides support to victims of crime and tragedy in the aftermath of a crisis event, in accordance with governing legislation, RCMP Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Strathcona County policies. This position helps support the organization in meeting expectations for timely and effective service delivery. The goal is to support RCMP members by helping individuals referred to Strathcona County Victim Services cope in the longer term by relieving distress, supporting personal autonomy and restoring self-reliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field (e.g.: Social Work) with an understanding of crisis response and trauma informed practice
  • Minimum of 5 years related client service experience
  • Understanding of the Alberta Criminal Justice System
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong documentation skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a professional and friendly demeanour
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong relationship building skills with a collaborative approach for working within the community
  • Computer skills – must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Reliable personal transportation is required
  • Ability to respond to crisis/trauma incidents 24/7, participate as a staff member/team lead of the on-call crisis response schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field (e.g.: Social Work) is preferred
  • preferably with individuals who have experience with crisis/trauma
  • Living within 20 minutes of Strathcona County RCMP detachment is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person on-scene, detachment, hospital crisis intervention with the victim's consent and at the request of first responders and community agencies
  • Conduct needs assessments with clients with an emphasis on trauma-informed care and develop personal service/safety plans with clients, providing enhanced services to vulnerable clients
  • Provide referrals to appropriate community and government support services
  • Provide follow up with clients not involved in the criminal justice system
  • Provide one on one support to clients before, during and after court proceedings
  • Work with Crown Prosecutors and other agencies to educate, assist, and support victims and witnesses during the criminal court process
  • Work with response advocates and court volunteer advocates to ensure clients are supported
  • Ensure all contacts with clients are properly documented, maintain adequate and accurate statistical data for ongoing evaluation, as well as participate in survey and research projects
