About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary position within the Victim Services Division of the District Attorney’s Office. The role involves supporting victims of violent crime, requiring strong communication, listening, empathy, and crisis response skills. The position demands the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage stress effectively while handling sensitive and graphic information.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of experience in a legal or social services related field; or a combination of education in Victim/Survivor Services and experience in the victims field.
• Self-disciplined with excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Excellent adaptability skills.
• Superb listening skills, patience, and empathy are critical.
• Must possess proper self-care techniques to manage stress.
• Crisis response experience or experience in working with victims of violent crime.
• Excellent work ethics and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer, writing, spelling, data entry, and typing skills.
• The ability to remain calm with people in crisis and get along with a variety of people from different backgrounds.
• The ability to learn quickly.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and disassociate self from the effects of listening to and reading of graphic crime information.

Responsibilities

• Talk extensively to victims of violent crime who may be emotionally distraught.
• Provide support and assistance to victims.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Manage stress and practice self-care techniques.
• Respond to crises and work with victims of violent crime.
• Perform a variety of different tasks each day.
