About The Position

State Street is seeking a Vice President, Technology Process Re-Engineering, to lead priority process mapping and re-engineering initiatives across State Street Global Technology Services (GTS). Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering, this hands-on, GTS-facing leadership role applies the team’s standards, methodology, tools, and governance to assigned workstreams. The role develops clear end-to-end process views and delivers practical improvements that simplify execution, strengthen controls, and improve operational transparency. The Vice President partners with technology process owners, risk partners, platform teams, and global delivery organizations. The position leads assigned workstreams, coordinates team members and subject matter experts, coaches colleagues, and ensures redesigned processes are implemented and sustained. It also provides practical feedback to improve the team’s methodology and approach. The role analyzes processes and operating models, facilitates cross-functional decisions, and manages improvement work from analysis through implementation. It establishes measurable outcomes, maintains process governance and quality, and provides executive-ready reporting on delivery, risks, decisions, opportunities, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technology process transformation, process re-engineering, business architecture, operational excellence, technology transformation, or risk-aligned remediation initiatives within large organizations.
  • Experience leading complex workstreams or teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with process mapping and re-engineering methods such as BPMN, SIPOC, value stream mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, business capability mapping, or operating model design.
  • Experience applying process standards, governance routines, repositories, reusable templates, maturity assessments, and reporting within technology process improvement programs.
  • Strong track record working with globally distributed technology teams and influencing stakeholders across GTS, risk, operations, and business-aligned technology functions.
  • Ability to lead complex process mapping and re-engineering workstreams within a large, matrixed technology organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and translate analysis into practical redesign options, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders, facilitate decisions, challenge constructively, and build alignment across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong understanding of how process design, ownership, controls, metrics, and evidence support operational resilience and a sound control environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and facilitation skills, including the ability to translate complex processes into clear narratives, visual maps, decision materials, and concise recommendations.
  • Ability to evaluate process data, control evidence, performance indicators, handoffs, and operating model constraints to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to support adoption by translating new process designs into clear actions, reinforcing accountability, monitoring outcomes, and sustaining improved ways of working across global technology teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services, technology, operations, risk management, or another highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply GTS process mapping methodology, standards, taxonomy, and tools to assigned priority processes, and provide feedback to improve the team’s approach.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end views of priority GTS processes, including activities, roles, systems, handoffs, controls, pain points, and performance indicators.
  • Lead assigned process mapping and re-engineering workstreams; coordinate team members and subject matter experts across global locations; ensure consistent quality, timely delivery, and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Analyze processes to identify duplication, fragmentation, manual workarounds, unclear ownership, control gaps, and opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate execution.
  • Facilitate working sessions with GTS process owners and transformation teams to design future-state processes, clarify roles and decision rights, document requirements, and develop implementation plans.
  • Define and track measurable outcomes for re-engineering initiatives, including reduced complexity, improved cycle times, stronger control alignment, clearer accountability, and better management information.
  • Execute governance routines to keep process maps current, validated, owned, and aligned with GTS standards, control expectations, and management reporting needs.
  • Prepare executive-ready reporting on process coverage, delivery progress, risks, improvement opportunities, open decisions, and realized outcomes; escalate issues and recommendations to the Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering.
  • Build working relationships across GTS technology, risk, operations, and delivery teams to align on findings, future-state design, priorities, dependencies, and adoption plans.
  • Facilitate fact-based discussions, resolve day-to-day ownership ambiguity, constructively challenge inefficient practices, and help teams achieve measurable, sustained improvement.
  • Coach team members and support implementation and sustained adoption of redesigned processes.
