This dynamic, multi-functional team ensures the effective rollout of new products across the platform, packages and positions products to appeal to consumers, and helps set the future direction and pace of innovation in our organization. The Head of Product Operations at PowerSchool is a strategic, operational, and crossfunctional executive responsible for architecting and scaling the systems, processes, analytics, and automations that enable a high-performing product organization. This leader partners closely with the CPO, R&D, Finance, Cloud Operations, and GTM teams to ensure the company delivers high-quality, high-impact products with operational excellence, customer-centricity, and financial discipline. This role owns Product Operations & Strategy end-to-end—driving alignment between product strategy, AI-enabled efficiencies, pricing and packaging, customer insights, segmentation analytics, and the operational rigor required to sustain growth and profitability across a multi-product SaaS platform.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15+ years of relevant and related work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Travel occasionally, up to 20-25%, for key moments such as team summits, training, customer meetings, company events, etc., with increased frequency during peak periods based on business demands.
  • This position is subject to company on call policies which constitutes working hours outside of the normal workday as needed.
  • Experience managing and leading functional areas or departments.
  • 10+ years in B2B SaaS / Cloud product operations, product strategy, or product management, including senior leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience operating within a $1B+ ARR, multi-product SaaS or Cloud Platform environment.
  • Proven success building or scaling a Product Operations organization and supporting CPO leadership.
  • Demonstrated track record improving product performance and customer satisfaction at scale.
  • Deep familiarity with modern product & engineering tools (roadmapping, backlog, analytics, VOC, monitoring).
  • Experience partnering closely with Customer Success, Support, Sales, and GTM teams serving enterprise or institutional customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define, build, and lead the Product Operations & Strategy function, creating scalable and repeatable processes for planning, prioritization, roadmap governance, competitive intelligence, backlog management, release management, and post-release ROI evaluation.
  • Partner with the CPO and executive leadership to align multi-year product strategy and roadmap with business objectives, customer outcomes, and market opportunities.
  • Partner with the CPO, Finance, Engineering, Support, Services, and Cloud Ops to optimize product investments, COGS, and contribution margins, balancing customer experience with operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate, refine, and execute pricing & packaging strategies across the product portfolio.
  • Lead operational analysis and scenario modeling for new licensing frameworks.
  • Build data-driven insights on product usage, customer value, segmentation, and willingness-to-pay to inform pricing decisions.
  • Ensure pricing and packaging changes are operationally sound, communicated effectively, and measurable from both customer and revenue perspectives.
  • Establish and own product health KPIs, including feature adoption, retention/churn, NPS/CSAT, bugs/defects, stability, time-to-market, and engineering velocity.
  • Lead segmentation analytics across customers, products, and markets to understand win rates, competitive performance, and historical product performance.
  • Build dashboards, analytics infrastructure, and review cadences to surface risks early, drive continuous improvement, and ensure accountability across Product and R&D.
  • Consolidate customer, usage, and operational insights to inform prioritization and strategic direction.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination for major releases involving Product, R&D, Cloud Operations, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and GTM teams.
  • Ensure alignment of priorities, cross-team dependencies, delivery timelines, quality commitments, and customer-facing readiness.
  • Drive program and portfolio management at scale across a multi-product portfolio.
  • Own the financial stewardship of the Product tooling stack—evaluating usage, cost/value tradeoffs, vendor consolidation, and ROI across: Roadmapping and backlog tools, Product analytics and instrumentation platforms, Monitoring and observability systems, Feedback collection and VOC platforms, Competitive and market intelligence tools.
  • Lead the integration of customer insights (CSAT, NPS, support tickets, user research, usage analytics) into the product development lifecycle.
  • Lead the adoption of AI and automation across the product organization to improve efficiency, speed, and quality in: Roadmapping and strategic planning, Backlog grooming and requirements generation, Release notes, customer-facing documentation, and training materials, Competitive intelligence and market monitoring, Internal knowledge management and productivity tooling.
  • Partner with Engineering, IT, and Product to select and deploy AI solutions that enhance decision-making, eliminate manual work, and improve team throughput.
  • Establish governance, quality standards, and best practices for how AI is used within Product and R&D SDLC workflows.
