About The Position

Peacock Alley, a recognized industry leader in premium bedding for over five decades, is seeking a Vice President of Product Development & Sourcing to lead the modernization of its luxury product line and drive global growth. This new, strategic role reports to the CEO and requires a leader with both creative vision and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will anticipate market trends, expand product categories, enhance existing collections, cultivate new manufacturing partnerships, and create commercially successful products that embody the Peacock Alley brand. This position demands a blend of merchant skills, product strategy, sourcing expertise, brand stewardship, and operational management.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in product development, merchandising, or sourcing, ideally in home textiles, soft goods, or an adjacent luxury category.
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Science, Industrial Design, Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of taking products from concept to market and achieving revenue and margin targets.
  • Deep sourcing and manufacturing expertise, including building vendor relationships domestically and internationally.
  • Strong merchant instincts backed by analytical rigor and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience building and leading a product development organization.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to contribute as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Demonstrated ability to align diverse cross-functional stakeholders around a shared product vision.
  • Proficiency with PLM systems, Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace, and financial/analytical reporting tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly, both domestically and internationally.
  • Minimum of 15 years of product development experience in soft home, textile, luxury consumer goods, or a closely related market.
  • Experience managing a full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization.
  • Experience building relationships with international manufacturing partners.

  • Experience in luxury home textiles, fine bedding, or a premium lifestyle brand.
  • Established relationships with domestic and/or international textile mills and manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with sustainable sourcing practices and supply chain transparency.
  • Background in DTC and wholesale channel product strategy.
  • Experience in hospitality or contract textile markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the long-term product strategy and innovation pipeline, driving new products from concept through commercialization.
  • Anticipate lifestyle, design, hospitality, and consumer trends 12–24 months ahead, translating them into innovative products.
  • Identify new product categories and line extensions, and evolve best-selling collections through material innovation, construction improvements, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop aspirational hero products and accessible extensions to broaden the customer base while maintaining luxury positioning.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Executive Leadership to translate competitive analysis and customer insights into product strategy.
  • Travel regularly to domestic and international markets, trade shows, and vendor sites to identify trends, source materials, and discover manufacturing capabilities.
  • Own end-to-end product portfolio lifecycle management, including commercialization, line extensions, rationalization, repositioning, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Evaluate portfolio performance using financial, operational, and customer data to improve profitability and reduce complexity.
  • Maintain a curated assortment that reflects luxury positioning and supports future growth.
  • Align Design, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership behind the product portfolio.
  • Build and expand a network of mills, artisans, and suppliers to enhance quality, innovation, speed, and cost competitiveness.
  • Identify new domestic and international manufacturing capabilities.
  • Negotiate product solutions that improve margin without compromising quality standards.
  • Evaluate manufacturing partners based on quality, scalability, sustainability, innovation, and strategic fit.
  • Guide products from concept through production readiness and successful market launch.
  • Lead stage-gate development and drive continuous improvement in commercialization workflows.
  • Ensure product launches are on time, on budget, and exceed quality and commercial expectations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Product Development & Sourcing organization.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented culture that supports creativity and operational discipline.
  • Serve as an executive leader and brand steward, representing the product organization internally and externally.

  • General base salary range: $175,000 - $200,000 (without incentives)
