Vice President of Operations, Member Firm

Windsor PathFloral Park, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

Windsor Path is a family office-backed professional services platform building a top 50 tax and advisory firm in the U.S. We partner with growth-minded accounting and tax firms, bringing them capital, infrastructure, and operational support while preserving what makes each firm distinct. We’re not a roll-up looking for a five-year exit. We’re building something durable, and we hire people who think that way. Our member firms are well-established, partner-led businesses with strong client bases and deep market presence. What Windsor Path brings is the platform: capital, technology, talent infrastructure, and a committed team of operators who help each firm reach its next stage. We’re hiring a Vice President of Operations to embed inside one of our member firms, dig into how it actually runs today, and build the operational foundation that turns a well-run practice into a scalable one. Because our capital is patient, you're building systems meant to last, not to dress a firm up for a sale. You'll see the results of what you build. This is not a business development role. This is an operating role. You’ll spend your time inside the firm’s workflows. Understanding where time and talent are being spent, where processes can be improved, and where the firm can improve profitability. Your job is to drive those changes, build workflows and systems, and create the capacity for the firm to grow more quickly. The first phase is foundational: learn the firm, build the reporting, and put the operating cadence in place. Once that foundation holds, the role expands into longer-range planning and broader growth levers. This role has real authority and real accountability. Alongside firm leadership, you own the firm's operating performance: its capacity, its margin, and whether the systems you build actually take hold.

Requirements

  • Operated inside a high growth services business, ideally one backed by private equity or growth equity. May have come from consulting, a chief of staff seat, a strategy and operations role, or an early-stage operating role at a venture or PE-backed company.
  • Comfortable getting deep into how a services business actually makes money: how time turns into revenue, where margin lives, and what operational leverage looks like in a people-driven firm.
  • Modernized operations in an environment that wasn't asking for change. Knows how to push a legacy organization forward without breaking the trust needed to get there.
  • Seen what good looks like at a well-run firm or portfolio company and knows how to close the gap in one that's behind.
  • Analytical and operational. Can build a model and can also walk the floor.
  • Comfortable in a room with seasoned partners, and brings perspective in a way that earns trust rather than burns it.
  • A builder by temperament. Wants to join something early, take real ownership, and grow with it.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Current Operations: Build a clear operating picture of the firm in your first 60 days. Spend time with every team member, develop a deep understanding of how the firm functions, and identify where the biggest opportunities sit. Diagnose where operations can be improved.
  • Build Change Infrastructure: Design and implement the infrastructure to support change management, such as reporting cadence and weekly project tracking. Recommend improvements to existing systems and workflows, and implement the relevant changes, while managing stakeholders’ individual needs. Document and systematize institutional knowledge. Own the firm-side integration of tuck-in acquisitions, partnering with the Windsor Path integrations team to bring new books of business and people onto the firm's systems cleanly.
  • Optimize Talent & Time: Lead capacity and resource planning. Diagnose where the firm has constraints and work with leadership on improvement opportunities. Improve utilization, realization, and leverage. Identify where the firm can capture more value from existing work through better scoping, staffing, pricing, or workflow, and build the reporting to keep it on track. Lead and develop the firm's administrative team, set clear expectations, and make sure support is consistent and reliable.
  • Enable Growth: Partner with firm leadership on long-range planning: where the firm is heading over the next two to three years, what the org needs to look like to get there, and what investments need to happen now. Create the operational capacity for the firm to take on more work, more clients, and more complexity without adding headcount proportionally. Develop the process and reporting to track profitability by client, engagement, and service line, to inform business decision-making. Enhance goal setting, performance tracking, and accountability structures below the partner level.
  • AI Adoption and Enablement: Drive the practical adoption of AI tools across the firm's workflows. Move tools from pilot to daily use, not just rollout to inbox. Identify where AI can remove manual effort in core processes (time entry, WIP, billing, document handling, client communications) and own the implementation, training, and measurement of what actually sticks. Partner with the Windsor Path platform team on firm-wide AI initiatives, then translate them into changes the local firm team can run with. Track adoption and surface what's working and what isn't, so the firm compounds gains rather than collecting unused licenses.
  • Windsor Path Platform Coordination: Serve as the primary day-to-day contact between the member firm and the Windsor Path platform team. Coordinate on shared services: technology, HR support, recruiting, marketing, and vendor management. Know what’s handled centrally vs. locally and make sure nothing falls between the two. Advocate for the member firm’s operational needs and participate in platform meetings and initiatives.
