About The Position

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for achieving the business objectives and goals of the Warehousing and Custom Packaging Departments. This role supports the overall success of the company in the short-term and aids in positioning the company for long-term growth. The VP of Operations is expected to provide customers with Best in Class Service and support their business objectives and goals. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of Food Safety or be willing to receive training.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a department of 200+ employees located in multiple geographical areas.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with durations of up to 12 months.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute objectives in a systematic approach.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Warehousing and Distribution industry.
  • Experience and knowledge about Food Safety or willingness to receive training in Food Safety.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining plans to achieve financial goals.
  • Experience in maintaining and updating rolling forecasts.
  • Experience in managing expenses within departments.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience in developing customer relationships through flawless execution and open communication.
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting operational metrics.
  • Experience in providing performance reports.
  • Experience in responding to customer requests and needs.
  • Experience in completing CARs and ensuring customer resolution.
  • Experience in ensuring accurate paperwork and data entry according to SOPs.
  • Experience in tracking errors.
  • Experience in setting clear goals and expectations for direct reports.
  • Experience in mentoring, supporting, and coaching direct reports.
  • Experience in documenting performance issues and creating PIPs.
  • Experience in project management, including creating project outlines and communicating project status.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve business objectives and goals for the Warehousing and Custom Packaging Departments.
  • Support the overall success of the company and position it for long-term growth.
  • Provide customers with Best in Class Service and support their business objectives and goals.
  • Meet goals determined by the Health and Safety Steering Committee.
  • Develop and implement plans to meet safety goals and reduce safety events.
  • Ensure safety metrics are updated and communicated at least weekly.
  • Create and maintain a plan to achieve department financial goals as determined by the CEO.
  • Maintain and update a 12-month rolling forecast of expenses in coordination with the Finance Team.
  • Adhere to the expense authorization document.
  • Manage all expenses within respective department(s).
  • Continuously evaluate ways to improve the accuracy and efficiencies of the department, identifying at least two significant improvements annually.
  • Develop positive relationships with customers based upon flawless execution and open communication.
  • Ensure all operational metrics are updated, monitored, and communicated per guidelines (e.g., Revenue per hour, cycle counts, errors, productivity metrics).
  • Provide a weekly performance report for the CEO.
  • Provide timely responses to customer requests and needs.
  • Complete CARs (Corrective Action Requests) when necessary and ensure customer resolution.
  • Ensure all paperwork and data entry are completed as detailed in SOPs and work instructions.
  • Ensure necessary information sent out of the department is accurate and any errors are tracked.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for all direct reports.
  • Mentor, support, and coach direct reports to achieve desired goals.
  • Properly document all performance issues and create a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) when deemed appropriate.
  • Create project outlines (Goal(s), required steps, resources, risk analysis, timeline) when beneficial.
  • Communicate to the CEO any project not on course to meet its goals, timelines, or budget at the time of awareness.
