About The Position

Drilling Mud Direct (DMD) is a Denver-based distributor of high-yield bentonite, drilling additives, and related products serving the infrastructure and broader construction industries. Over the past several decades, DMD has grown from a straightforward truckload shipping operation into a full-service distribution business with strategically located hubs across the country, an in-house logistics company, and a mud engineering arm providing 24/7 technical support in the field. Customer service is the company's North Star, and that reputation for reliability has been central to its growth. Approaching $20 million in revenue and backed by operating partner Broadwater Capital, DMD is now focused on building the operational leadership and infrastructure needed to scale the business and pursue its next stage of growth. DMD is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial operational leader to serve as its Vice President of Operations. As the company enters its next stage of growth, this role will be central to building the systems, processes, and team capabilities needed to scale the business effectively. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both the strategic mindset to see the bigger picture and the willingness to roll up your sleeves in a lean, fast-moving environment. For the right candidate, it represents a compelling opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on a growing company with the support of an experienced ownership group and potential for growth.

  • Partner with executive leadership to align operational strategy with company growth and financial goals, translating priorities into clear execution plans with defined KPIs, while improving gross margins through cost discipline, resource optimization, and vendor negotiation.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, and collaboration while building depth and capacity cross-functionally as the company continues to scale.
