About The Position

American Life Financial Partners, LLC seeks an experienced and execution-oriented Vice President of Investment Operations to help lead the operational infrastructure supporting the organization’s insurance asset management program. This position will oversee investment closings, trade settlement, cash reconciliation, portfolio data, reporting, vendor relationships, and operational controls across a broad range of asset classes. The Vice President of Investment Operations provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the organization’s investment operations function. This position ensures investments and trades are closed, settled, recorded, reconciled, and maintained accurately across internal and external systems. The Vice President will work closely with the Investment, Treasury, Accounting, and Compliance teams, as well as external asset managers, custodians, loan administrators, technology vendors, auditors, and trading counterparties. The role will also lead the transition to a new loan administrator and build scalable processes to support continued growth. This position requires an adaptable leader who can balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day execution in a fast-evolving environment. The Vice President will manage and develop staff, strengthen operational controls, and help build the infrastructure necessary to support the investment platform. This position is based on-site in New York City and reports to the Chief Investment Officer.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of investment operations, trade settlement, reconciliations, portfolio reporting, and operational controls.
  • Understanding of operations across private and public asset classes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop scalable operational processes and infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership, staff development, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior leadership, vendors, auditors, and regulatory examiners.
  • Execution-oriented and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Six or more years of progressive experience in investment operations, asset management operations, registered investment adviser operations, wealth management operations, or a related financial services environment.
  • Experience with investment closings, trade settlement, cash reconciliation, portfolio data, performance reporting, and operational controls.
  • Experience managing external service providers and leading or developing employees.
  • Experience with loan administration or investment accounting systems required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance investment operations, derivatives settlement, collateral management, or Clearwater experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily investment operations, including investment closings, trade settlement, cash reconciliation, transaction booking, and exception resolution.
  • Ensure investment, transaction, performance, and cash data are accurately reflected across custodial, loan administration, accounting, and portfolio management systems.
  • Manage operational activities across private credit, commercial mortgage loans, structured products, bonds, equities, derivatives, and other asset classes.
  • Lead the transition to a new loan administrator, including implementation planning, data validation, process documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Manage relationships with custodians, loan administrators, technology vendors, asset managers, trading counterparties, and other external service providers.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new asset managers, accounts, counterparties, and service providers.
  • Develop and maintain scalable workflows for investment closing, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, billing, and data management.
  • Monitor investment returns, cash flows, valuations, and portfolio performance in partnership with the Investment team.
  • Build and maintain portfolio-level reporting for leadership, audits, regulatory examinations, and other business needs.
  • Partner with Investment, Treasury, Accounting, and Compliance to support accurate reporting, liquidity management, regulatory compliance, and investment oversight.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and controls that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Investment Operations team, including establishing priorities, allocating resources, and managing employee performance.
  • Support strategic initiatives, system implementations, audits, and ad hoc portfolio data requests as assigned.
