About The Position

GMSTEK is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead its finance and accounting functions during a period of significant growth. This role involves building financial discipline, enhancing business visibility, and acting as a key member of the leadership team. The responsibilities include managing core accounting and reporting, guiding the company through acquisitions, multi-entity consolidation, and investor financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of financial acumen and strategic thinking, contributing to GMSTEK's platform that integrates aviation operations, property, payments, and data for airports and FBOs. The VP of Finance will collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on critical areas such as pricing, acquisitions, integration planning, KPI design, and long-term capital strategy. Success will be measured by clean financial closes, clear financial visibility, disciplined execution during acquisitions, and the development of metrics that aid leadership in understanding business performance and areas for improvement. This role requires an individual who can take initiative, establish structure, and build the financial infrastructure for a rapidly expanding technology company, with a preference for those who enjoy designing and building systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 6 to 9 years of progressive finance and accounting experience with time as Controller or Finance Director.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, SaaS/hardware revenue recognition, and multi-entity financial structures.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, reporting tools, and Excel/Power BI-level analysis.
  • Brings rigor from high-performing finance teams, but adaptable to a fast-paced growth-stage environment.
  • Operationally curious - you want to understand what drives the numbers, not just report them.
  • Confident communicator - you can turn financial results into clear, strategic insights for leadership.
  • Detail-oriented and hands-on - you’ll own the day-to-day while building toward scale.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - you bring structure, but you don’t need it to thrive.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in a SaaS, recurring revenue, or tech-enabled services environment is preferred.
  • Experience in PE-backed, investor-facing, or acquisitive companies is a plus.

  • Build dashboards and reporting tools that provide leadership with clear, actionable insights.
  • Define and track metrics and KPIs that measure business performance in real time.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and eliminate manual reconciliation work through automation and process improvement.
  • Partner with the Business Intelligence team to align operational and financial reporting across systems.
  • Collaborate with operations and department heads to analyze costs, margins, and performance by product, customer, and location.
  • Investigate variances and anomalies in real time and provide insight, not just data.

  • Prepare for and manage multi-entity consolidation, including upcoming acquisitions.
  • Evaluate current tools and workflows, identify and lead the implementation of scalable systems (e.g., ERP).
  • Support due diligence, financial integration, and ongoing reporting for acquired businesses.
