Vice President of Finance
About The Position
HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a VP of Finance in Chattanooga, TN. The VP of Finance will lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing real estate investment and development company; overseeing financial reporting, treasury activity, and compliance while supporting strategic initiatives across investments, development projects, and asset management. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys variety, values accuracy, and wants meaningful visibility with company leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience, thrives in a hands-on environment, and can operate independently while helping drive financial strategy and process improvement.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- QuickBooks Online and Excel experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and real estate transactions
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Bill.com, and standard business software
Nice To Haves
- CPA preferred
- Prior experience in real estate, land development, or investment funds strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations for the company
- Prepare and oversee accurate and timely monthly financial statements
- Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Compile special financial reports for ownership and shareholders
- Monitor key financial metrics, project profitability, and investor returns
- Identify expense trends and cost-saving opportunities
- Lead QuickBooks Online and consolidation initiatives to improve efficiency
- Oversee treasury and cash management transactions
- Manage banking relationships and ensure loan covenant compliance
- Maintain internal controls across systems, processes, and reporting
- Assist with asset management activities including acquisitions, sales, refinances, construction, rehab projects, insurance, and cash flow planning
- Support investor communications and distribution processes
- Assist with development project funding and complex financial modeling
- Partner with external tax advisors and oversee tax-related deliverables
