About The Position

BlueWater Health is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead enterprise financial operations and serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership. This role goes beyond traditional finance leadership, bringing together accounting, payroll, benefits, financial planning, and revenue integrity into a unified, high-performing system. The VP of Finance is responsible for ensuring that financial operations are accurate, compliant, and efficient, leadership has clear, actionable financial insight, and all revenue is optimized, correct, complete, and fully realized. This is a high-impact leader who will support bridging finance, clinical operations, and revenue cycle management. The ideal candidate will use agentic AI to maximize efficiency and multiply human capital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
  • Healthcare or physician group experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial management, including general ledger, close processes, and multi-entity accounting, financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), and treasury management.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Oversee external relationships (auditors, tax advisors, banking partners).
  • Provide executive oversight of payroll across physicians, APPs, and staff.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant compensation structures, including productivity-based models.
  • Continuously track payroll trends to ensure integrity of complex payroll structure.
  • Oversee and optimize employee benefits programs (health, retirement, disability, etc.).
  • Partner with leadership to align compensation and benefits with organizational strategy.
  • Accountable for the completion and/or oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Deliver clear variance analysis and forward-looking insights.
  • Support strategic decision-making through modeling and performance analysis.
  • Oversee financial performance across sites and contracts.
  • Identify trends in revenue, staffing costs, and margins.
  • Support leadership in evaluating growth opportunities and contract sustainability.
  • Serve as executive sponsor of Revenue Integrity, ensuring that all revenue is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Oversight of charge capture, coding alignment, and documentation integrity.
  • Manage full cycle: registration through collections.
  • Partnership with partner facilities, clinical leadership, and revenue cycle vendor(s).
  • Establishment of KPI-driven visibility into denials, leakage, and payer performance.
  • Accountability and oversight of CNR (Charts Not Received) and RAI (Request for Additional Information).
  • Lead BlueWater Health resource for IT downtime/disaster recovery as it relates to revenue cycle activities, including boots on the ground mitigation at partner sites when appropriate.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the COO and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Partner with Chief Medical Officer in exploration, development, and/or implementation of value-based reimbursement opportunities.
  • Contribute to organizational planning, growth strategy, and performance improvement.
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance function.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and data-driven decision-making.
