About The Position

Echelon Payments is a high-growth payment processing company headquartered in Melville, NY, processing billions annually for merchants across the United States. We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented VP, Finance to join our growing Finance team. Reporting to the CFO, you will take hands-on ownership of core finance operations — financial reporting, FP&A, cash management, and cross-functional collaboration — while helping build the systems and processes that support our continued growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience
  • Experience in payments, fintech, or merchant services strongly preferred; familiarity with interchange, residuals, and payment processing economics is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required
  • CPA, CFA, or CMA preferred
  • Prior Director of Finance, Controller, or Senior Finance Manager experience required
  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration and contributing to high-performing finance teams
  • Solid knowledge of corporate finance: budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning
  • Strong proficiency in financial management software (QuickBooks or equivalent)
  • Advanced Excel; familiarity with Power BI or similar analytics tools a plus
  • Experience with cloud software such as Salesforce, Ramp, and ClickUp
  • Exposure to SOC 1 internal controls and financial audit frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting to senior leadership and external partners

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly close packages and variance analysis
  • Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, modeling, and performance management
  • Assist with cash management, liquidity tracking, and short- and long-range forecasting
  • Support banking compliance, commercial banking relationships, and lending documentation
  • Manage third-party billing workflows and on-statement billing processes
  • Oversee residual payment processing and reconciliation
  • Coordinate with external auditors to support preparation and delivery of audited financial statements
  • Partner with tax advisors to support proactive tax planning and compliance
  • Support evaluation and annual renewal of company insurance programs
  • Assist with ADP PEO relationship management, including plan renewals and cost analysis
  • Collaborate with the Head of HR on compensation planning, benefits strategy, and workforce cost management
  • Review bi-weekly payroll in partnership with the senior accounting team, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Contribute to the development and mentorship of the broader finance team
