About The Position

The Vice President of Clinical Services, Pharmacy Leader is the senior leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy clinical services within the Brown & Brown National Pharmacy team. This executive role involves strategic leadership, operational oversight, and ensuring the integration of pharmacy services into the organization's overall consulting delivery model. This position will collaborate with the Client Engagement team (client support team) and Brown & Brown’s most complex Clients to provide clinical expertise and analytics support. You will interpret and evaluate pharmacy claims trends, provide clinical insights, and recommend clinical management strategies and solutions. You will bring strong industry knowledge and will serve as a trusted business partner to clients and both internal and external stakeholders. The Vice President of Clinical Services will lead the National Pharmacy Clinical team and be responsible for the overall success of the department and its individual teammates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) from an accredited U.S. School of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in pharmacy practice, with at least 5 years in a leadership or executive role in a healthcare and/or consulting setting.
  • 5+ years’ experience in government programs, e.g. Medicare Part D, Medicaid and Exchange.
  • Experience in the management of operations, clinical services, and budget management in a large, complex organization.
  • Proven track record of successful strategic planning, team leadership, and program development in pharmacy services.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams, influence decision-making, and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong experience in MS Excel with a working knowledge of MS office suite.
  • Ability to travel and present to clients and internal teams (travel estimated at 25%).
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the PBM/Managed Care Industry.
  • Experience with Tableau, including development and adhoc querying.
  • Quick self-motivated learner who can initiate and drive new projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (you will be responsible for presenting your work to both internal and external technical and non-technical audiences).
  • Thrive with minimal oversight and lots of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the vision, strategy, and goals for pharmacy clinical consulting services and PharmaLogic, aligning them with the organization's overall mission and objectives.
  • Provide leadership in the development and execution of the pharmacy department's strategic plan, focusing on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the clinical services department, including leading, mentoring, and developing a team of pharmacists that foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Implement and support staff training, education, and professional development programs to ensure clinical competency and adherence to best practices.
  • Represent the pharmacy clinical team at the executive level, reporting on pharmacy-related issues, initiatives, and performance metrics.
  • Lead in the development of new clinical pharmacy services product offerings, intellectual capital, and clinical marketing collateral to be distributed to clients and other marketing channels (i.e. website, blog, videos, white papers, seminars, etc.)
  • Foster positive relationships with external stakeholders, including PBMs, external vendors, and other industry partners.
  • Support the implementation of innovative pharmacy programs, technologies, and tools to improve client outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Derive data-driven strategy recommendations regarding formulary coverage, utilization management, plan design, clinical programs, etc. that align with client goals and culture.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging therapies, and technological advances to guide the organization’s clinical pharmacy team.
  • Develop and communicate clinical insight to key stakeholders including clients, brokers, and internal teammates.
  • Collaborate across teams and within the broader Brown & Brown organization to support growth, new business, and client retention.
  • Serve as clinical subject matter expert and liaison to the Technology, Client Engagement, and Sales teams.
  • Support sales efforts by assisting with creating clinical proposal content, participate in finalist meetings, and interacting with prospective clients.
  • Comprehend and evaluate clinical program value proposition.
  • Mentor and support non-clinical teammates to grow collective National Pharmacy team knowledge and capabilities.
  • This position will include job duties that require risk designations for access to Electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of their job responsibilities.
