About The Position
The Institute for Public Service (IPS) is a nationally recognized, university-based system delivering expert solutions to government and industry. In every region of the state, IPS promotes effective governance, supports economic development, and improves quality of life for Tennesseans. Its work includes direct assistance to city and county governments, training for public officials and law enforcement, support for manufacturers to enhance productivity and competitiveness, and language services, among others. IPS includes the following agencies and programs: the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS), Center for Industrial Services (CIS), County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS), Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC), Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership (NCEL), Tennessee Foreign Language Center (TLC), the Substance Misuse and Addiction Resource Center for Tennessee (SMART Initiative), and the Center for Local Planning (CLP).
