About The Position

The group has deep roots in large-cap public company M&A and is recognized as a market-leading franchise across its core verticals. Within Industrials, our Chemicals team in New York serves as a trusted strategic advisor to chemical companies spanning specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, performance materials, coatings, adhesives, industrial gases, and related subsectors. The team advises on the full spectrum of strategic and financial matters, including transformative mergers, cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and activist defense, leveraging Lazard’s global network and sector expertise to deliver differentiated outcomes for clients. The Chemicals team operates in a highly dynamic environment in which team members at all levels routinely encounter complex, novel situations that require them to think creatively and deliver solutions for our clients. Vice Presidents play a central role in deal execution and client engagement, working alongside Managing Directors to lead mandates while developing and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of investment banking experience (M&A experience strongly preferred)
  • Meaningful exposure to and genuine interest in the Chemicals sector or broader Industrials coverage
  • Strong client and presentation skills
  • Strong quantitative background and analytical/technical skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail
  • A demonstrated team player attitude and leadership qualities with strong motivation to contribute to a positive team culture
  • Top academic performance with comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment which values initiative, creativity, and maturity
  • Ability to support, manage and empower junior bankers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s degree required
