About The Position

The Vice President & General Manager (VP/GM) of MRO Composite is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall performance, compliance, and growth of a composite maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business. This individual oversees all operational, financial, regulatory, and commercial aspects of the organization, ensuring adherence to FAA and other applicable regulatory standards while delivering high-quality services to customers. Reporting to the President of MRO Businesses, the VP/GM serves as the primary leader of the business unit, driving operational excellence, cultivating customer relationships, and leading strategic initiatives across engineering, quality, sales, and workforce management. This role is based onsite in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aviation Management, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in aviation MRO, with a strong focus on composites.
  • Proven leadership experience managing operations, P&L, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAA regulatory compliance and quality systems.
  • Deep understanding of composite repair processes and MRO operations.
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive change, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to safety and compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • Background in both technical/engineering and business leadership roles strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full P&L ownership and accountability for business performance for a business with an annual revenue ~$45m.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the composite MRO facility, ensuring efficiency, safety, and on-time delivery.
  • Establish and execute strategic plans to drive growth, profitability, and market competitiveness.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean) to optimize processes and reduce costs.
  • Ensure full compliance with FAA regulations and other applicable aviation authorities.
  • Oversee quality assurance and control systems to maintain industry certifications and standards.
  • Support and improve the SMS program
  • Act as the accountable manager for regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Champion quality and safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, AS9110, ISO, and internal audit standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, OEMs, and airline partners.
  • Lead sales and marketing strategy to expand market share and service offerings.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, responsiveness, and contract performance.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, margins, and cost structures.
  • Drive cost control initiatives while maintaining service quality and compliance.
  • Report business performance metrics to executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical integrity of repair processes and innovations.
  • Support development and approval of repair schemes, processes, and capabilities.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering, operations, and quality functions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, cross-functional team.
  • Oversee workforce planning, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and labor regulations.
