The Vice President for Mission and Ministry serves as a key member of the President’s Cabinet and provides strategic and pastoral leadership to ensure that the University’s mission animates all aspects of university life. With a growing footprint, Rockhurst offers liberal arts and professional programs through on-campus and online delivery. The Vice President for Mission and Ministry is responsible for fostering a vibrant culture of faith, service, and discernment across campus. This leader will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, trustees and Jesuit partners to promote the liberal arts and the university’s values into the University’s programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong background in theology, pastoral ministry, higher education or a related discipline (terminal degree preferred)
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to Catholic, Jesuit higher education and Ignatian Spirituality, the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in mission integration, ministry or related fields
  • Proven ability to collaborate across diverse constituencies
  • Excellent communication, pastoral and strategic leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Articulate and promote the University’s Catholic, Jesuit mission and identity internally and externally
  • Provide leadership for campus ministry, liturgical life, faith formation, community outreach and service in action programs
  • Collaborate with other Jesuit communities and apostolic works, the local Church, and broader Catholic and interfaith partners
  • Guide mission-related assessment and steward the Catholic, Jesuit and liberal arts tradition
  • Support faculty and staff development in Jesuit pedagogy and Ignatian Spirituality
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate mission into curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and planning
  • Partner with academic and administrative leaders to advance priorities in the Mission Priority Examen
  • Advance initiatives related to inclusion and belonging through a mission-centered lens
  • Employ effective organizational skills and experience managing budgets, supervising professional staff, and overseeing operations to ensure mission-aligned and efficient outcomes.
