About The Position

Montgomery College seeks an experienced and strategic financial executive to serve as its next Vice President for Financial and Business Services. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Administrative and Fiscal Services, this leader will provide executive oversight of the College’s business and financial operations and serve as a key advisor to the President, senior leadership team, and Board of Trustees. Montgomery College is a nationally recognized, multi-campus community college serving nearly 45,000 students across campuses in Rockville, Germantown, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and the East County Education Center. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, public administration, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial and budget leadership.
  • Extensive expertise in accounting, public finance, auditing, compliance, budgeting, investments, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex financial operations, enterprise financial systems, audits, and institution-wide business services.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, government, or other highly regulated public-sector environments.
  • Senior-level business, finance, or administrative leadership experience in a large, multi-campus organization.
  • Experience advising executive leadership teams and governing boards.
  • Experience with business transformation, ERP implementations, and Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the College’s financial and business operations, ensuring fiscal sustainability, operational effectiveness, and alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, treasury, investments, grants accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, student billing, cash management, forecasting, audits, and related financial systems.
  • Advise executive leadership and the Board on financial strategy, risk management, compliance, business operations, and long-range planning.
  • Strengthen internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead audit preparation and resolution efforts.
  • Drive process improvement, financial systems optimization, and service excellence across a large, multi-campus institution.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, funding partners, auditors, and community organizations.
