About The Position

In partnership with the President, the Vice President for Enrollment Management is responsible for the overall leadership, development of recruitment and enrollment strategy, and performance of the University's marketing, recruitment, and enrollment management of all undergraduate and graduate programs. The Vice President develops recruitment strategy and oversees the operations of the admissions office for all students, including: undergraduate, non-traditional, transfer, online, graduate, extension programs, and international, and will coordinate with other offices on campus (including the offices of the Financial Planning, Registrar, Institutional Research, Communications, and Student Success) to ensure a student-focused and seamless approach to the enrollment cycle, as well as efficient and ethical enrollment processes for recruitment and continued enrollment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least five years of experience in higher education in enrollment management
  • Experience in helping to build and manage effective, collaborative, cross-divisional programs and teams
  • Ability to practice 'state of the art' recruitment, retention, and marketing strategies
  • Excellent organization and management skills
  • Understanding and appreciation of the strategic uses of all resources, including financial aid, in enrollment management
  • Well-grounded in database enrollment management techniques
  • Adept in leading and managing a staff
  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with the Board of Trustees, president, vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, alumni, and others in the community

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a Strategic Enrollment Plan that optimizes the University's position in a highly competitive marketplace, increases our overall visibility and ensures achievement of the University's enrollment growth and objectives.
  • Provides innovative and inspirational leadership in the development and implementation of plans to increase and diversify student populations in traditional, online, hybrid, non-traditional, extension, and certificate, and graduate programs.
  • Serves as an effective manager of the division to inspire performance and to meet institutional goals and expectations.
  • Collaborates across the campus on issues affecting recruitment, admissions, student billing, financial aid, student-athlete recruitment, graduate recruitment, student orientation, and retention.
  • Understands and advocates for the distinctive mission of the University.
  • Uses data effectively to develop informed goals and processes to improve enrollment and retention.
  • Plans, organizes and executes regional, national, and international marketing, communication and recruitment plans to meet enrollment goals for targeted student populations.
  • Selects, guides, and evaluates professional and support staff; oversees training, orientation and professional development of staff to ensure ethical, dynamic, accountable, and innovative recruitment in a goal-oriented environment that seeks to increase enrollment in all markets.
  • Develops and manages the annual enrollment management and services budget.
  • Oversees the establishment of application policies and procedures and coordinates the proper evaluation of applicants, serving as a liaison with admission staff and members of the faculty.
  • Ensures effectiveness and efficiency of systems and structures to aid enrollment planning, management and decision-making.
  • Directs the enrollment and admission marketing research agendas, driving data-based decision making and adjusts strategy to meet changing market conditions.
  • Coordinates market research and on-going database and operations management programs. Works closely with the Provost and the Dean of the Graduate School on developing graduate and non-traditional programs that will drive enrollment.
  • Constantly reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of all phases of the enrollment management operation, and revises and strengthens as necessary.
  • Provides leadership and utilizes carefully developed admission literature as well as other marketing and advertising materials in traditional, online, and other formats.
  • Serves in a liaison capacity with internal and external constituencies including the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, high school and college counselors, prospective students and parents to advance enrollment at Converse and to share emerging trends in enrollment management, which may include regular reports as requested.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of articulation agreements with the APIRR to attract transfer students.
  • Participates in the central governance of the University, serving as a member of the senior management team, a principal liaison to the Enrollment and Programs Committee of the Board of Trustees, as well as on selected budget, planning and special committees as requested.
  • Develops and capitalizes upon alumni connections to aid in student recruitment.
  • Grows enrollment and maximizes net revenue to strengthen the academic and co-curricular experience for students and build the reputation of the University as an institution that provides an excellent academic experience.
  • Enhances communications with staff and faculty and effectively engages the Converse community in recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.
  • Represents the University in a speaking capacity at on- and off-campus student and parent programs; participates, as needed, in the general functions of the office, including, but not limited to, college fairs, admission events, student interviews, school visitations, etc.; and represents the University at regional and national conferences and events regarding enrollment management and services.
  • Provides general coordination and assistance in retention activities in collaboration with the Vice President for Student Success.
  • Provides leadership in the development and execution of student financial aid policies, procedures, awards, scholarship programs and budget levels.
  • Works with the Board and the President to establish annual recruitment and tuition offset goals and then meets those goals.
  • Assists with the strategic planning activities of the University with special attention to those areas that have enrollment implications.
  • Assures adherence to state and federal regulations, institution policies and relevant accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Intercollegiate Athletics to promote recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Adheres to Converse University, Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President.
