About The Position

The Vice President of Finance is the senior-most finance leader below the Chief Financial Officer. The VP of Finance provides strategic direction and oversight across the global association’s entire finance function, including accounting operations, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, payroll, audit, and regulatory compliance. This role sets and implements the vision for the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, financial statement consolidation, and the integrity of financial reporting, while directing annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, margin and variance analysis, cost management, and long-range financial planning. The Vice President of Finance leads, builds, and develops a high-performing global Finance organization and champions the strategic adoption of AI tools and automation to strengthen financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and accelerate decision-making. As the principal finance lead supporting all departments worldwide, the VP of Finance also guides the optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ERP and system integration, and the organization’s overall financial governance, controls, and risk management framework.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the Microsoft 365 suite, with the ability to set financial systems strategy.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting, financial management, GAAP, forecasting, strategic planning, budgeting, treasury, tax, and internal controls; proven ability to build and lead high-performing Finance organizations, partner with business unit leadership and drive AI and automation strategy within finance operations.
  • Strong executive presence with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to the CFO.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • CPA certification required
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role with responsibility for leading teams and partnering with the CFO.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and experience leading AI-assisted finance tools and automation initiatives, and experience with nonprofit and/or multi-entity global organizations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, build, and develop the global association’s Finance organization; design the team structure, set strategic priorities and performance expectations, provide coaching and mentorship, conduct performance evaluations, and develop talent and succession plans that build long-term organizational capacity.
  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CFO; provide financial insight and analysis to inform organizational strategy, capital allocation, and resource decisions, and translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
  • Provide executive oversight of the organization’s financial systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and its integration with CRM and other enterprise platforms; set the strategy for system optimization, upgrades, and resource allocation to support organizational growth.
  • Set and champion the strategy for responsible adoption of AI tools and across the finance function to streamline accounts payable, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting; establish governance standards and a culture of innovation that advances AI-assisted workflows.
  • Direct the development of executive financial reporting; leverage AI Automation and Business Central dashboards to deliver real-time insights, key performance indicators, and forward-looking analysis that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • Own and direct the annual budgeting process and long-range financial planning in partnership with all functional departments; lead rolling forecasts, scenario planning, and budget-versus-actual analysis to guide organizational performance.
  • Lead strategic financial analysis and special initiatives, including business case development, return-on-investment evaluation, and analysis to support organizational growth and new ventures.
  • Establish and continuously improve accounting and operational policies, internal controls, and best practices to strengthen efficiency, scalability, and the integrity of the organization’s financial operations.
  • Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close; ensure accurate and timely reconciliations, journal entries, and trial balances, providing executive review and final approval rather than day-to-day processing.
  • Oversee cost accounting methodology, including labor and overhead allocations and functional expense allocations, to ensure accurate costing and resource decisions.
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and control integrity of all financial transactions across the organization through robust review and approval processes.
  • Direct the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial reports for the CFO; ensure timely, accurate month-end financial packages.
  • Own revenue recognition policy and ensure adherence to ASC 606 across all revenue streams; provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of GAAP-compliant consolidated financial statements for all domestic and foreign entities.
  • Oversee the global payroll function, including payroll accruals, commission calculations, and related reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax requirements and Federal, State, and foreign tax calculations and reporting across all jurisdictions in which the organization operates.
  • Oversee preparation of 1099/1096s and other required tax documents; ensure full compliance with all tax filings, reports, and payments.
  • Lead the annual audit for domestic entities (501(c)(6), 501(c)(3), and LLC) and audits of foreign entities; serve as the primary liaison to external auditors and tax advisors and oversee tax return preparation.
  • Direct treasury and cash management strategy, including oversight of investment accounts, cash flow planning, banking relationships, and capital asset management.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, aging, and collections strategy to optimize working capital and ensure timely collection of customer invoices.
  • Oversee accounts payable controls, ensuring proper coding, budget adherence, and appropriate authorization levels through the PO system; own and maintain GAAP-compliant accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and sound financial governance across all domestic nonprofit and foreign entities; oversee organizational insurance coverage and the enterprise financial risk management framework.
