Vice President, Engineering

Hearst•Dallas, TX

About The Position

Homecare Homebase is hiring a Vice President, Engineering to lead its Revenue Cycle Management engineering organization. The team is responsible for EVV (Electronic Visit Verification), Personal Care, and Revenue Cycle—including billing, collections, cash posting, payroll, and general ledger—across the home health and hospice platform. This is a major, business-critical product line with a funded, multi-year investment plan. The Vice President reports to the Chief Technology Officer and partners closely with a Senior Product Director and a Stream Scrum Master to set organizational direction. The role will help modernize core Revenue Cycle systems that share a tightly coupled, database-centric legacy architecture, working alongside the Chief Architect’s organization-wide decomposition strategy. The role owns roadmap delivery, production reliability, technology lifecycle management, defect prioritization, release cadence, and people outcomes across the organization. It also leads a high-performing blended employee and contractor engineering organization, partners with Product and architecture and engineering peers, and escalates material risks to the CTO. The VP is expected to use modern AI-assisted engineering tools hands-on, drive their adoption across teams, and partner with Product to deliver reliable, supported AI-powered Revenue Cycle capabilities that meet the platform’s reliability and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including 3+ years at VP/Director-equivalent scope with direct accountability for production reliability across a multi-team, multi-application portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ownership of incident frequency and duration as a named metric, including defining alerting/APM requirements and holding a shared infrastructure or SRE function accountable to service-level turnaround.
  • Experience operating in a paired leadership model with a product counterpart, maintaining clear boundaries between what gets built (Product) and how and when it ships (Engineering).
  • Experience managing a blended employee/contractor engineering organization, including vendor transitions.
  • Current, hands-on practitioner fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools, including AI coding agents or assistants and AI-assisted code review and testing, plus a track record of driving adoption across an engineering organization.
  • Experience shipping AI-powered product features into production, beyond internal developer tooling, with accountability for their accuracy, reliability, and compliance after launch.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have the right to work in the U.S. without immigration sponsorship; this position does not provide sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Revenue Cycle Management domain experience in billing, claims, collections, payroll, or general ledger in a regulated or healthcare-adjacent environment.
  • Experience in home health, hospice, or post-acute care technology.
  • Experience modernizing or decomposing a monolithic, database-coupled legacy system.
  • Experience improving automated test coverage on regulatory-exposed critical paths such as billing, claims, or clinical documentation.
  • Experience leading global or distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience operating inside a value-stream or product-pod model rather than a traditional functional (Dev/QA/Scrum) organization.
  • Experience evaluating or rolling out AI developer tooling, such as AI-native IDEs or coding agents, at organizational scale, including measuring adoption and productivity impact.
  • Experience applying AI specifically to financial or transactional workflows, such as fraud/anomaly detection, exception triage, or document/claims understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of the Revenue Cycle Management roadmap against committed plans and milestones, proactively re-forecasting in writing before a delivery date is at risk.
  • Own production reliability for every application in the portfolio, including incident frequency and duration.
  • Define written alerting and APM (Datadog) requirements for every application and hold shared infrastructure and SRE functions accountable to agreed turnaround times.
  • Own technology lifecycle management across the organization, ensuring components are on supported releases or have dated plans to become supported; reduce the cycle time for closing lifecycle gaps release over release.
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization, hire within approved headcount, shape team structure, and direct day-to-day contractor work alongside employees.
  • Set defect-triage priorities and release cadence for the organization’s teams.
  • Own development, retention, and fair evaluation across the organization, delivered through Technical Managers whom the VP holds accountable.
  • Partner with the Senior Product Director on roadmap sequencing, release scope, customer-pilot readiness, and trade-offs between new capabilities and remediation.
  • Partner with the Chief Architect’s organization on cross-team architecture decisions, shared platform changes, and integration patterns against the core database.
  • Partner with peer VP Engineering leaders on cross-boundary dependencies and shared technical seams.
  • Escalate material risks to the CTO, including risks to committed delivery dates, changes to funded-plan scope or budget, and issues affecting teams beyond the organization.
  • Use modern AI-assisted engineering tools hands-on and drive adoption of AI-assisted development, testing, and review practices; assess where AI improves velocity, quality, or cost and hold Technical Managers accountable for adoption.
  • Partner with Product to identify, scope, and ship AI-powered Revenue Cycle Management capabilities, taking them from prototype to reliable, supported production features that meet platform reliability and compliance standards.
