About The Position

Essential Job Functions Lead our core engineering groups: Client Integrations - establish industry-leading onboarding time and reliability, to enable rapid business expansion Application Engineering - elevate our client portal from a visibility tool to a system of action for clients Data Engineering - expand our real-time data footprint to power critical use cases for all other teams Software Integrations - develop a stable tools ecosystem to feed integration, application development, and AI use cases while increasing the scalability of system-to-system services Platform teams for Data, Integrations, and Software - deliver a developer experience that enables safe, high-velocity development and minimizes onboarded-to-productive time Team structure, people, and recruiting: Develop high-performing engineering groups through coaching and hiring Intentionally design and evolve teams to stay aligned with core objectives and keep clear lines of ownership Maintain a culture that values technical excellence, speed, and collaboration over ego Execution: Develop and operate policies to drive velocity and quality Establish and maintain healthy coordination patterns within and beyond the core engineering departments Leverage platform functions and team/process design to build an excellent developer experience for all specializations Ensure that all engineering teams achieve our operating standards for design, validation, reliability, security, and incident management. Strategy: Partner with peers and Technology leadership to define the engineering roadmap Evolve our architecture and tech selections to ensure key capabilities are addressed Apply a strong working understanding of key business processes and systems of record to give context-aware guidance to your team and to peers Physical Requirements Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment Education & Experience 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered. Prior roles managing 20+ engineers Recent experience managing software development teams Desirable: experience managing platform, data, and integrations teams Hands-on comfort with modern software engineering workflows: you won't be an individual contributor, but need to maintain your intuition & mechanical sympathy to guide a strong developer experience and make informed architecture decisions Deep knowledge of foundational engineering concepts is a given (e.g. distributed systems fundamentals, design tradeoffs, scaling patterns) Certification & Licenses Professional certification may be required in some areas WHY SHOULD YOU WORK FOR CRANE? Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
