About The Position

Xometry is hiring a Vice President, Communications to shape how its publicly traded, AI-native manufacturing marketplace is understood by the press, investors, customers, partners, and employees. The role partners directly with the CEO and executive team, combines hands-on writing and editing with leadership of a lean communications team and agency partners, and establishes a disciplined communications strategy as the company scales. The Vice President owns corporate messaging, CEO and executive communications, earned media, public-company communications, reputational risk and crisis readiness, internal communications, and the communications team and operating model. The role works closely with Marketing, Product, Legal, HR, Investor Relations, and Finance to deliver a coherent, accurate story across audiences and channels. Within 12 months, success includes a message house used across executive remarks, product announcements, investor materials, and internal communications; a rolling plan tied to business milestones and a predictable executive-preparation cadence; measurable improvement in earned-media quality; and a staffed core team with clear ownership and outcome-based agency KPIs.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience in corporate communications or public relations.
  • Experience leading executive communications for a CEO in a high-growth technology, marketplace, or public-company environment.
  • Strong hands-on writing and editing skills, including the ability to draft keynotes, bylines, and major announcements under deadline and set editorial standards for a team.
  • Ability to translate complex technical subjects, including AI/ML, software, and marketplace dynamics, into clear and credible stories for non-technical audiences.
  • Established relationships with business, financial, technology, and trade press, and a record of winning coverage in a crowded category.
  • Public-company experience working with Investor Relations, Finance, and Legal on disclosures and market-sensitive communications.
  • Experience leading crisis and issues response in high-pressure situations, with sound judgment and executive presence.
  • Technology company and B2B background.
  • Experience building and leading lean teams and managing external agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, or supply chain markets, or regulated industries.
  • Fluency with AI-enabled communications workflows and modern media measurement tools.
  • Experience working across distributed, global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the corporate message house and maintain consistency across press, investor materials, product launches, executive remarks, and internal channels.
  • Translate technical product and AI developments into accurate, defensible stories supported by proof points.
  • Serve as the CEO’s primary communications counselor and voice architect; plan executive communications and personally draft or refine keynotes, bylines, and major announcements.
  • Extend the communications platform to the CTO and other senior leaders.
  • Own proactive media strategy across top-tier business, financial, technology, and trade press; build reporter relationships and determine what merits pitching.
  • Hold the PR agency accountable for quality coverage, share of voice, and message pull-through rather than activity alone.
  • Partner with Investor Relations, Finance, and Legal to align communications across earnings, disclosures, and market-sensitive announcements.
  • Own enterprise reputational risk; maintain crisis playbooks, escalation paths, and tested scenarios, including AI, data, and marketplace-specific risks; lead hands-on response when needed.
  • Work with HR to direct All-Hands and leadership communications so employees hear strategy clearly and early.
  • Build the communications team from the ground up, define its structure, hire and develop talent, and establish editorial standards.
  • Select and manage agency partners, build an AI-augmented workflow, and report communications impact in business terms.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Product, Legal, HR, and Investor Relations to deliver a coherent story across audiences.
  • Develop a rolling communications plan tied to business milestones and establish a predictable cadence for CEO and executive preparation.
  • Set targets for earned-media coverage quality and measure top-tier message pull-through and share of voice against named competitors.
  • Establish team ownership across external, executive, and internal communications, and set agency scope and KPIs around outcomes.
