About The Position

Edelman Smithfield is seeking a Vice President to lead accounts, teams, and projects for a portfolio of financial industry clients. Potential clients include private capital firms, hedge funds, asset managers, investment and commercial banks, fintech companies, real estate investors, insurers, and other institutional market participants. The role requires providing strategic communications counsel to senior executives in capital markets and financial services, as well as media relations experience, preferably with reporters at top-tier financial publications. The Vice President will lead client relationships and account work, contribute to business development and marketing, and collaborate across Edelman Smithfield and Edelman offices to grow financial communications services and the global practice. The role also includes developing junior staff and ensuring teams deliver responsive, detail-oriented client service. The listed salary range is $133,000–$180,000. Compensation within the range depends on factors including education, qualifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, travel requirements, and business needs. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, journalism, public policy, communications, or a related field.
At least 8 years of experience in financial communications.
Previous media relations experience, preferably with reporters from top-tier financial publications.
Strong comfort providing strategic counsel to senior executives of capital markets participants.

Responsibilities

Lead client accounts and assignments, drawing on relevant Edelman teams and resources to deliver high-quality service.
Lead or contribute to pitches and new-business efforts focused on financial communications or integrated assignments.
Lead financial communications marketing and prospecting efforts, including identifying opportunities and developing thought leadership and intellectual property.
Serve as relationship lead for C-suite client executives and clients who manage communications and marketing functions.
Collaborate with Edelman Smithfield and Edelman colleagues across offices to identify opportunities to provide financial communications services to Edelman clients.
Ensure account teams are proactive and responsive, anticipate deliverables, and take accountability for execution.
Train and support junior staff and ensure they pay sufficient attention to detail.
Collaborate with Edelman Smithfield colleagues in the US and globally to develop and grow the global practice.
Build awareness of Edelman Smithfield among potential referral sources.
