About The Position

As the Vice President (VP), Business Unit Head (BUH) for Vaccines, you will lead and have ultimate accountability for GSK's largest business unit in Canada. This complex role provides leadership and direction across multiple teams and at an enterprise level. The role sits on the Canada Country Leadership Team and reports to the General Manager, Canada. This is a third-line leadership role with direct management responsibility for approximately 100 people across sales and marketing, with six direct reports. The BUH sets the long-term vision and strategy for the business, executing on a portfolio of market-leading vaccines brands – at the provincial government level, as well as in the private market. The role leads Marketing, Customer Engagement/Sales and Operations teams, and partners with Medical, Market Access, Finance, Legal, Insights & Analytics, and the Global Product Strategy teams in Vaccines, to align on forecasting, pricing, and strategic imperatives to deliver business results through ensuring access to our vaccines for the patients who need them. This is primarily an office-based position at the GSK Canada HQ in Mississauga, Ontario, with flexibility for some remote working, and travel across the country as required.

Requirements

  • BA/BSc degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial experience in vaccines, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare, with progressive leadership roles.
  • Large-scale in-country operational commercial leadership experience of both sales and marketing personnel in a Business Unit / Franchise head role, or as a General Manager.
  • Experience in leading GP/Specialty product sales.
  • Financial acumen, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proven experience of leading and inspiring a direct-line team through periods of change.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree, MBA, or post-graduate qualification(s) in business management, sales/marketing, and/or leadership.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in vaccines, policy, immunization programs, or government contracting.
  • Experience with market access, pricing, and tender processes.
  • Evidence of managing strategic and operating plans, using Strong data-driven decision-making skills and analytics to guide strategy.
  • Proven ability to influence change at the enterprise level.
  • Experience/understanding of the Canadian healthcare market.
  • French language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and inspire the Business Unit to ensure our vaccines get to the people who need them across Canada as quickly as possible.
  • Ensure delivery of the portfolio P&L performance. This includes planning, implementing, and monitoring commercialization strategies (marketing, sales and cross-functional).
  • Be a Member of Canada Leadership Team and therefore responsible for driving the strategic and operational focus for the company.

  • Ensure effective measures are in place to track progress, identify gaps, and implement accelerated improvements.
  • Take active role in driving market access plans for brands in the portfolio including national recommendations.
  • Drive disciplined execution of the BU strategy in line with the Brand Plan.
  • Set trimester execution sprint plans to drive pace.
  • Ensure that differentiated Performance is actively managed across the Business unit; recognising our top performers and supporting members of the team who are not reaching performance expectations.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to the highest ethical standards and consistent communication of ethical image and position.
