About The Position

CBIZ Benefits and Insurance is separating from CBIZ and building its own technology organization. The role will help determine which applications to retain, replace, or retire; lead the transition from CBIZ-provided systems; and build a nimble team focused on business value. The VP owns application strategy, architecture direction, build-versus-buy decisions, and modernization; leads application separation, data segregation, and cutover; and manages transition services agreements, vendor contract assignments and consents, and Day-One and standalone readiness. The role participates in ERP selection and implementation, partnering with the CFO and business leaders on financial reporting, close, and audit readiness. It also runs technology intake and prioritization, builds and leads the application team, directs integrations across the application and data ecosystem, and owns Salesforce, agency management and benefits administration platforms, and other SaaS and off-the-shelf systems. The position leads homegrown software development across the full lifecycle using secure SDLC practices, and manages a development organization that uses onshore and offshore partners. It implements AI solutions to improve operations and delivery velocity, partners on AI governance and vendor risk, and works with Finance on software capitalization processes, time tracking, and audit support. The VP partners with Benefits and Insurance business leaders, coordinates with infrastructure and security on identity, access, and application risk, supports SOC 2 and PHI/PII requirements, and owns the applications budget, including capital and operating expenses. The role also designs, builds, and deploys a data warehousing strategy and ensures master data management and self-service tools are available to users. Success measures include separating applications from CBIZ on schedule and within the TSA window; selecting and implementing the ERP on time and within budget; establishing transparent intake and a prioritized roadmap; achieving measurable gains in delivery velocity and operational efficiency through AI; and maintaining a stable, engaged, high-performing team.
